So intensifica una descripción; such introduce un sintagma nominal

Para cantidades, usa so much/many antes de un nombre.

So + adjetivo:
The film was so funny that we laughed all evening.
So + adverbio:
She spoke so quietly that I could not hear her. Quietly describe cómo habló.
Such a/an + nombre singular:
It was such a funny film that we watched it twice. La expresión incluye un nombre contable singular.
Such + nombre plural o incontable:
They were such friendly people. / It was such good news.
So much/many:
Para hablar de cantidad, usa so much + nombre incontable o so many + nombre plural: so much time, so many books.

Construye una descripción intensa con so o such

So y such intensifican una descripción. Si el adjetivo o adverbio aparece sin nombre detrás, elige so: «The room was so quiet» o «She spoke so quietly». Usa such para un sintagma nominal descriptivo: «It was such a quiet room». Las cantidades siguen otro patrón: so much con un nombre incontable y so many con uno plural.

Un nombre contable singular necesita a o an después de such: «such a kind person» y «such an interesting book». Los nombres plurales e incontables no llevan a: «such kind people» y «such good news». Para grandes cantidades, también puedes usar so much con un nombre incontable y so many con uno plural.

Muchas oraciones añaden that para explicar el resultado. Compara «The test was so hard that I needed help» con «It was such a hard test that I needed help».

Preguntas frecuentes
