El trabajo lo hacen los auxiliares be, have, do, will y would, que marcan el tiempo, la negación y la pregunta: I work, I don’t work, do I work?

Negativas e interrogativas

En el presente simple y el pasado simple, la negativa y la pregunta necesitan do, does o did, y el verbo principal vuelve a la forma base: she works → she doesn’t work → does she work? En los demás tiempos, el primer auxiliar lleva el not o pasa delante del sujeto: she has worked → she hasn’t worked → has she worked?

El verbo be es distinto: nunca usa do. I am → I’m not → am I? Practica el verbo to be.

Preguntas frecuentes

¿Por qué la tabla dice he/she/it?

Porque he, she e it comparten siempre la misma forma: he works, she works, it works. Solo esta persona cambia en el presente simple (-s) y con be y have (is, has).

¿Conjuga phrasal verbs?

Sí. Escribe el verbo con su partícula, como wake up o look after, y la partícula queda al final: she wakes up, did you look after?

¿Por qué no puedo conjugar can o must?

Son verbos modales. Tienen una sola forma para todas las personas, no llevan -s y no necesitan do en las preguntas: she can swim, can she swim?
