When Amir moved to Oak Street, he knew the address but almost nobody nearby. His

June was the first person who spoke to him outside the building.

, and she remembered every name after one meeting.
She showed Amir a small park where families met on warm afternoons. She also pointed out the shop that stayed open late for people coming home from work. Amir was grateful, but he soon forgot the streets on the way to each place.
June suggested a simple map with useful places and friendly faces. Amir drew the streets, while June wrote notes about people in the neighbourhood. They included Omar, a baker who gave unsold bread to a local food bank. They added Mei, a

cyclist who helped children learn road safety.
Near the station, they marked a quiet room where students could study after school. The map also showed a bench with a clear view of the river.
Before sharing the map, Amir and June asked everyone for

.
Omar liked the idea but wanted his bakery’s opening time corrected. Mei preferred a note about the free cycling class, not her home address. June listened carefully and changed both notes without argument. Amir admired her because she was

They printed a few copies and placed them in the library with the staff’s agreement.
A month later, a new family moved into the flat above Amir’s. Their daughter found the quiet study room on the map and met classmates there. Her father visited the bakery, and the family joined the cycling class on Saturday. Amir realised that a useful map needed more than streets and numbers. It needed people who were willing to share their time and knowledge. He and June planned to update it whenever a place or
