Preposições de lugar
Uma preposição de lugar indica onde alguém ou algo está. Observe a posição para escolher a palavra adequada.
- In:
- Dentro de um espaço: The keys are in the box.
- On:
- Sobre uma superfície e em contato com ela: The cup is on the table.
- Under e above:
- Under indica uma posição abaixo; above, acima.
- Between e next to:
- Between indica algo entre duas coisas; next to, ao lado de outra.
- Behind e in front of:
- Behind indica que algo está atrás; in front of, à frente: The garden is behind the house.

Onde está? As preposições de lugar
Use *in* para falar de algo dentro de um lugar: *The keys are in a box*. Use *on* quando algo está em contato com uma superfície: *The cup is on the table*.
*Under* indica que algo está mais abaixo: *The shoes are under the bed*. *Above* indica uma posição mais alta: *The light is above the table*. A bicicleta está ao lado do carro (*next to*) e a bola, entre duas cadeiras (*between*).
*Behind* indica que algo está atrás; *in front of*, à frente. O jardim está atrás da casa: *The garden is behind the house*. Observe as pistas de cada exercício para escolher a palavra correta.
Perguntas frequentes
Qual é a diferença entre in e on?
*In* significa dentro de um espaço; *on* geralmente indica contato com uma superfície.
O que significa between?
*Between* indica que algo está no espaço que separa duas coisas.
Below significa a mesma coisa que under?
As duas palavras podem indicar uma posição abaixo; *under* costuma sugerir algo diretamente debaixo de outra coisa.
