Três sentidos de used to
As três expressões se parecem, mas respondem a perguntas diferentes. *Used to* indica algo que era verdade no passado e mudou. *Be used to* indica que algo é normal ou familiar. *Get used to* descreve a adaptação a algo novo.
A forma verbal depois de *to* é uma pista importante. Hábito passado pede verbo na forma base: *I used to walk*. Familiaridade pede substantivo ou verbo em *-ing*: *I am used to the walk* ou *I am used to walking*. O mesmo vale para *get used to*.
Observe o tempo e a experiência da pessoa. Se a frase diz *but now I don’t*, provavelmente trata de um hábito passado. Se algo já é normal, há familiaridade. Se está ficando mais fácil aos poucos, há adaptação.
