How the test works
This 50-question test checks the grammar and words of the ten B1 course units. It includes six listening questions, two dictations, five rewrites and four error corrections. Answer every question to see your score and units to review.
- What it checks:
- Five questions come from each of the ten B1 units, from how long through linking ideas.
- Pass mark:
- You need 80% to pass: 40 correct answers out of 50.
- Your results:
- At the end, you get links to the units where you made mistakes. Study those units and take the test again.
- No certificate:
- This is free practice, not an official exam. It does not award a certificate.
Examples
She has been working here since March.
How long: the present perfect continuous describes an action that started in the past and continues now.
The book was written in 1999.
How it is made: use be plus past participle for the passive voice.
If I had more time, I would travel more.
What if: the second conditional imagines a different present situation.
She said that she was tired.
She said: reported speech tells someone else what a person said.
Audio uses a synthetic voice.

What a B1 English test checks
B1 is an intermediate level of English. This test checks how well you use grammar and vocabulary from ten B1 course units, including talking about duration, telling stories, passive voice, imagined situations, reported speech and more.
The questions include multiple choice, short completions, audio, dictation, sentence rewrites and error correction. Each one belongs to a course unit, so your result can link directly to topics worth reviewing.
Answer all 50 questions without a dictionary to get a useful guide to what you know. A score of at least 80% passes this practice checkpoint. The test is not an official exam and does not offer a certificate.

The object the station becomes the subject. The routine stays present simple: is cleaned.

A modal takes the base verb without to: must be.
