Reading text

The people of Brook Street planned a music show in the park for Saturday evening. Nora offered to
organiseplan and arrange an event
it because she enjoyed bringing neighbours together.
The school band agreed to play, and a local café offered drinks. There was such a strong
responsewhat people say or do after an invitation
that Nora ordered extra chairs.
The
forecasta report about expected weather
looked good on Thursday, but dark clouds appeared on Friday.
Although the team hoped for clear skies, they prepared a second plan.
The library offered its hall, which had space for the band and most visitors. Nora wanted to avoid cancelling because the
musicianspeople who play music
had practised for weeks.
She put up new signs at the park and sent a message to everyone on the list. The message said the show would take place indoors if it rained. Some people did not see the
updatenew information about a change
; however, the signs gave them the new address.
By noon on Saturday, the rain was so heavy that the park paths were empty.
At the library, volunteers moved tables aside and set up a small
stagean area where performers stand
.
The hall was smaller than the park, so they kept one
doorwaythe opening of a door
clear.
Despite the weather, families arrived early with umbrellas and wet coats. Nora was nervous about the change, yet the band sounded confident during its first song. There were so many visitors that some listened from the reading room. The café staff handed out drinks while children made paper stars for the
stagean area where performers stand
.
After the last song, Nora thanked the library staff and the volunteers. The show was different from her original plan, but nobody seemed disappointed. In fact, several neighbours stayed to talk long after the music ended. Nora realised that a change of place had not changed the
purposethe reason for doing something
of the evening.
Next time, she would plan for both spaces from the beginning. The wet signs were taken down, but the paper stars remained in the library window.
