Learn the English alphabet and spell words

The English alphabet has 26 letters. Each letter has a big form and a small form: A and a, B and b, all the way to Z and z. Point to a letter, listen to its name and say it aloud. Then find the same letter in a short word.

To ask for a name or word, say “How do you spell it?” A friend can answer, “A-N-A,” for Ana. Try spelling your name and simple words such as cat, dog, pen and book. Say one letter at a time.

Some English letter names sound close when you first hear them. Listen again to A and E, E and I, and G and J. Repeat each pair, then check its written letter. A little practice makes names and words easier to spell.
